Sneaksy sports a very minimalistic UI. It’s so simple and plain in nature that even a newbie can easily use it for its purpose. The application basically provides you with a folder named ‘Files‘ on your desktop, in which you can store different files that you want to hide from other users.
The application is also very different from traditional folder lockers or applications that allow you to conceal your desired items. How it shrouds your content is worked up in a clever way. The Files folder I mentioned earlier only shows up when you specify the custom password of your choice, and goes into hiding again whenever you want.
The application doesn’t require to be installed on your system, and works straight out of the box. When you click its portable EXE file, a minuscule password box appears at the top-left corner of the screen, where you just need to enter your password. The password is not hidden the first time you type it, so make sure you specify a password that you can easily remember (or store it in a separate password vault). To define the password, simply click the black and red box and type it in, after which the box will disappear, leaving only a small red rectangle at the same location. To bring up the Files folder to hide items, you can click this line and enter the previously defined password.
Upon entering the correct password, the Files folder will appear on your desktop. This folder acts as an encrypted vault where you can store any type of information and data you want. To re-hide the folder, click the small red rectangle again.
Overall, it’s a very simple method to effectively hide files and folders with password protection. Sneaksy is a portable, open-source application that works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
